A longer cushion can change the look of an engagement ring. Compare the individual outline, the space it occupies on the hand and the way its facets respond as it moves. This selection brings together loose natural old-mine and old-cut cushions with a published length-to-width ratio of 1.20 or higher.

The 1.20 threshold defines this shortlist. Shape is a personal choice, and the photographs show differences that a ratio cannot describe. Use the on-hand view to judge the outline against the finger and the 360-degree view to examine the stone as it turns.

Public asking prices below are in US dollars for the loose diamond. Confirm availability and a written quotation before arranging inspection or payment. Setting costs, taxes and duties depend on your plans and destination.

Choosing the outline for your ring

Start with the millimetre length and width. Then compare the corners, side curves and central facet pattern in the photographs and video. Stones with similar ratios can have different outlines, and a higher carat weight does not specify how much finger coverage a stone provides.

Bring the measurements and side profile to your setter before deciding on the setting. Tell us whether you want a low ring, an open gallery, a bezel or prongs so we can discuss the particular diamond with that design in mind.

What should I check before buying?

Review the GIA report, fluorescence, visible inclusions and any condition information for the stone you like. Ask for close views of the girdle and culet, and for additional video if you need to examine a particular area. A cutting-style description does not establish a historical date; ask what supporting history is available if period is part of your decision.
